Two Minutes of Island Paradise (Sun Set to Rise) (2019) is a stop-motion video work that consists of found footage from the internet, which is broken down frame by frame and printed out on paper. The silhouettes of the palm trees against the sky washed in warm tones of pinks and yellows suggest a tropical paradise, while the sun sets and rises in what seems like an eternal loop. Expanding from his research interest on stagecraft, the artist takes on the role of the stagehands in this work - he sticks the scenes printed on paper onto the wall sheet by sheet, photographs them, and finally compiles it into a stop motion video. In the video, one may observe details such as the edges of the printouts and the tapes at the top of the paper, revealing the materiality of what is being captured in front of the camera and the process behind the scenes, which is often hidden from the audience.
