Rituals or indigenous divinations, sights and manners of personal games – I have a strong tendency to perceive them as beautiful things, and I want to paint based on these themes. For example, it is an adoration to the world view of Akino Fuku's “On the Sand”, “Prayer in the Courtyard”, and “Morning Prayer”. Figures and shapes are depicted on soil and sand through unique methods. These figures’ facial expressions, gestures and attitudes have my ultimate admiration that may sometimes be jealousy.

To put it another way, imagine that a person with a unique sensibility questions and proposes a game according to his/her own rules. Objectively, the rule is incoherent, but since he/she believes it from the bottom of his/her heart with no doubts, I will seek the “correct answer” and start looking for a ticket to enter that world. For instance, it is an adoration and jealousy towards their “unfounded strong self-confidence” that draws people in. I believe that the expression is persuasive if the doer has no suspicion at all in himself/herself, whether the claim is unfounded or incoherent.

The background of the production of "Petri plate ~" contains adoration towards these kinds of attitudes. It can also be said for the painting “New Play with Using Pebbles” (2011) and the new drawings “A Person Planting Seeds” and “Time to Place White Clovers”. If I widen the sensitivity, I think most of my works contain some sense of introversion and aspects of being immersed into unique manners. “Using Pebbles ~” depicts people who enjoy playing within their own rules, and “Planting Seeds ~” and “White Clovers” are also people who act faithfully according to their own manners. "Petri Plate ~" was a direct challenge of being unfounded in deciding what to draw and where. In comparison to the previous three based on specific actions, “a ceremony for collecting petals on a petri plate” is an unregulated action that can be drawn in any way. Thus, in every choice occurring, my own unfounded affirmation is required. The challenge to paint something that will be incomprehensive for outsiders while making the viewer feel that it is inevitable; will continue.
